Register: payment, shifts, discounts and refunds

How the cashier takes an order and payment, opens and closes a shift, and which extra register features are turned on in settings.

Order and payment

The register opens by the link in "Workplaces" → "Cashier screen". The cashier picks dishes, the mode ("Table" or "To go"; "Delivery" when enabled), a payment method — "Cash", "Card" or "Transfer" — and presses "To kitchen". The order shows on the kitchen screen at once. For cash there are the "Received" and "Change" fields.

The register only records how the guest paid, so that revenue adds up. It does not process a payment and does not print a fiscal receipt.

Shifts and the report

If "Work in shifts" is on, the buttons "Open shift" and "Close shift" appear at the top. In the field next to them you enter "Opening cash" and, when closing, "Cash counted". After closing, a printable shift report opens.

The "Report" button shows the figures at any time: "Orders", "Revenue", "Expected in the till". Without shifts the report covers "Today".

What is turned on in settings

These features are off by default. The owner turns them on in "Menu settings" → "Order taking" → "Register and kitchen":

"Dish notes" — the cashier writes a note to an order line ("no nuts"); the kitchen and the kitchen slip show it, the guest receipt does not;
"Pay later" — the button "To kitchen, pay later"; payment is taken in "Tabs" with "Take payment". While unpaid orders remain, the shift cannot be closed;
"Cashier discount" — a percentage or an amount, with a reason; not above "Discount ceiling, %". Guest QR orders get no discount;
"Split payment" — the "Split" button: for example, part in cash and part by card;
"Refund of a handed-out order" — the register gets a "Handed out" section with a "Refund" button; a refund needs a reason (3–120 characters) and only works for orders rung up at the register and not paid online. A bank payment is refunded by the bank.
