Printing with the bridge program (Windows)

How to set up printing of receipts and kitchen tickets through the bridge: printers, key, installation and what to do if nothing prints.

The bridge is a small Windows program on the venue's computer. It picks up ready receipts and tickets from the service and sends them to the printer. You can print from any screen, including a tablet.

You need a computer with Windows 10 or 11 and internet, and a receipt printer that supports ESC/POS (for example Xprinter, Gprinter, Epson TM). An ordinary office printer will print a string of odd characters instead of a receipt.

Setting up the dashboard

Only the owner can change print settings.

  1. In "Menu settings" → "Printing", add a printer with "Add a printer": name, role (cashier, kitchen, bar), connection and paper width. "Network (LAN/Wi-Fi)" needs the printer's address on your network and a port. "USB (via the bridge)" needs the printer name exactly as Windows shows it.
  2. In "What to print and where", set how many copies of each event go to each printer: "Order paid online", "Order accepted", "Order closed at the till", "Shift report". A dash means do not print.
  3. In the "Bridge" block press "Issue a key".
  4. Switch "How we print" to "Through the bridge". The cashier and kitchen screens stop printing by themselves, and their print buttons put jobs in the queue.

Installing on the computer

  1. Press "Download the bridge". The archive comes with a ready settings file: the service address and your key are already inside.
  2. Unzip it into a permanent folder on the computer with the printer.
  3. Double-click AddMenu-Print-Check.bat. The window lists the Windows printers and checks the connection to the service.
  4. Double-click AddMenu-Print-Install.bat. The bridge starts at every Windows sign-in and runs in the background. An icon appears near the clock: green means online, red means no connection.
  5. In the dashboard, press "Test print" next to the printer.

The "Bridge" block shows when the bridge last connected and how many jobs are waiting.

If nothing prints

  • The cashier screen shows a red bar "Printing is not working: the bridge is not responding". Check that the computer is on, the internet works and the bridge is running. Jobs are not lost and will print by themselves.
  • For USB, the printer name in the dashboard must match the Windows name letter for letter. For a network printer, check the address and port.
  • If you pressed "Reissue", the old key stopped working: download the bridge again.
  • Never send the settings file with the key to anyone.
