Printing receipts and kitchen tickets from the browser

The guest receipt and the kitchen ticket are ordinary web pages. If your printer can print any page from the browser, it can print these too. No extra program is needed.

Before you start

1. Connect the printer to the computer where the cashier or kitchen screen is open. The system must see it as a normal printer.
2. Choose the paper width: "Menus" → "Menu settings" → "Order taking" → "Register and kitchen" → "Receipt paper width". There are two values, 58 and 80 mm: look at the roll. The receipt and the ticket are laid out for this width.

3. In "Menu settings" → "Printing", the "How we print" field must say "From the screen".

Printing with a button

On the cashier or kitchen screen, press the printer icon on an order card. The browser's print window opens. The first time, set it up:

1. Pick the receipt printer.
2. Open "More settings", set margins to "None" and clear "Headers and footers", otherwise the site address and date are printed at the top.
3. Leave the scale at its default.

The browser remembers your choice for that printer.

Printing without a dialog

Chrome on a Windows computer can print straight to the default printer.

1. In Windows, make the receipt printer the default printer.
2. Create a Chrome shortcut and add to the "Target" field, after the path to the program: --kiosk-printing --app= followed by the address of the cashier or kitchen screen that you copied in "Workplaces". Always open the screen through this shortcut, and keep the address private: it opens the screen without a password.

3. On the screen, press the printer icon at the top and turn on "Print automatically". The choice is stored on this device, not on the venue.

The cashier prints the receipt of an order paid online; turn on "Print every new order" to print all new ones. The kitchen prints a ticket when an order goes into work.

Good to know

• The screen has to stay open: if you close the tab, nothing prints.
• Only orders that arrive after you turn it on are printed.
• If a receipt did not print, a note "Order … not printed" appears at the bottom with a "Retry" button.
• This does not work on an Android tablet. Use the bridge instead.
• The receipt is not a fiscal document.
