Menu categories and their order

How to create categories, change their order, move dishes between sections and hide a section for a while.

Categories are the sections of your menu: Starters, Mains, Desserts. Guests see them in the order they have in the editor.

Create a category

  1. Open the "Dishes" tab. Menus → Dishes
  2. Press "Add category" and type a name in the "Category name" field.
  3. Click the sliders icon ("Category description and visibility"). There you can add a short line under the section name and switch the section off with "Show in the menu".

Change the order

  • Drag a category by the handle to the left of its name ("Drag to reorder").
  • Dishes move the same way, by the handle in the dish row. You can also drop a dish into another category.
  • The arrow by the name ("Collapse or expand the category") folds a section so a long list does not get in the way. Guests are not affected.

Move several dishes at once

  1. Tick the dishes. On a phone, press "Select" first. The tick beside a category selects all of its dishes.
  2. A bar appears above the list. Pick a section in "Move to…" and press "Move".
  3. To raise or lower the prices of all ticked dishes, type a percentage in "Price ±" (for example 10 or -15) and press "Apply".

When you are done, press "Done" or "Clear".

Duplicate and delete

The copy icon creates a "Duplicate category with its dishes". The bin deletes the category together with its dishes. You are asked first, with the section name and the number of dishes, and deleted items cannot be brought back.

If you have many categories

In "What the menu does" you can turn on "Several menus on one page" (main menu, bar, breakfast) and "Section schedules", which adds a showing time to every category. Menus → Menu settings → What the menu does
