How to add a dish to your menu

Create a category and a dish, enter the name, size and price. Changes save by themselves and appear on your menu page.

Dishes live inside categories such as Salads, Drinks or Mains. So you need at least one category first.

Add a dish

  1. Open the "Dishes" tab in the menu editor. Menus → Dishes
  2. If you have no categories yet, press "Add category" and type a name in the "Category name" field.
  3. In the category you need, press "Add dish". A new row appears.
  4. Type the name in the "Dish name" field. Next to it is a short description: ingredients, notes, how it is served.
  5. If you like, enter the size and pick a unit from the list (grams, millilitres, pieces and so on).
  6. Enter the price as a number, for example 12.5 or 12,5. Do not type the currency sign: it comes from the "Language and money" section. Menus → Menu settings → Language and money

There is no "Save" button. Each field saves by itself when you move to the next one, and flashes briefly.

What else you can set

Click the photo thumbnail to the left of the name (the tooltip says "Photo, description, badge"). A panel opens where you can:

  • upload a photo of the dish;
  • choose a badge such as "New", "Popular" or "Chef's pick";
  • tick dish properties and allergens, if they are turned on in "What the menu does";
  • switch off "Show in the menu" to hide the dish for a while without deleting it.

The other icons in the row are duplicate the dish, "Out of stock" and the bin. For an unavailable dish the guest sees a note and cannot add it to the basket. Deleting is permanent: the photo and translations go with the dish.

If you leave the price empty, the dish appears in the menu but cannot be added to the basket.
