Import a menu from a photo
Photograph a paper menu or upload a PDF, check what was recognised and add it to your menu. It runs within a monthly allowance.
An AI service turns a photo of a paper menu, or a PDF, into categories and dishes. It can get a price or a name wrong, so always check the result.
How to import
- Open the "Dishes" tab, press "Data" and choose "Import from a photo". Menus → Dishes
- In "Which language to take into the menu" choose your menu's language, or keep "As printed — every language as it is". If the paper menu has several languages, tick them under "Other languages on the photo": they go into the translations.
- Press "Choose a photo or PDF". You can pick several files; they are read one after another. Photograph pages separately and without glare.
- On the "Review" screen fix names and prices. An empty price is highlighted: fill it in, or leave it empty on purpose. Drop a surplus row with the cross, and drag a dish from the wrong section by its handle.
- Press "Add to the menu". Until you do, nothing is written. For more pages press "Add another photo".
The monthly allowance
Each file is one recognition from your plan's monthly allowance, shared by all your menus and renewed on the 1st. It is used at recognition, not when you press "Add to the menu". If the service did not answer, the use is given back; if it answered but found nothing on the photo, it stays used. There is also a daily limit per page.
When the allowance runs out you see a message, and everything added earlier stays. If "Import from a photo" is missing from the list, recognition is not connected. If your plan lacks it, a message says so on the first try. Profile menu → Plan
Check afterwards
- Prices, sizes and units.
- A section named like one of yours is topped up, not duplicated.
- Dish photos are not imported. Importing the same photo twice adds the dishes twice.
- Portions such as 0.3 and 0.5 l become options only if "Portion options" is switched on beforehand in "What the menu does".
- If more dishes are recognised than your plan allows, the whole addition is refused.
